At Joe Michell we are fortunate to educate our students at an International Baccalaureate World School which aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who will create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. FJME strives to maintain and increase programs that help provide a balanced, global education for our children.
Study and participation in the fine arts is a key component in improving learning throughout all academic areas. Evidence of its effectiveness include*:
- Enhancing student creativity
- Fostering a love for learning
- Developing better team players
- Improving greater student dignity
- Raising student attendance
- Producing grounded and prepared citizens for the workplace of tomorrow
The fine arts also provides learners with non-academic benefits such as promoting self-esteem, motivation, aesthetic awareness, cultural exposure, creativity, improved emotional expression, as well as social harmony and appreciation of diversity. These are the very fibers of our cultural fabric. This year we are focusing our “Thankful for Education” campaign on the Arts. We are asking each family to make a financial contribution to support our existing programs, while helping create new ones.
