What are Ambassadors?
The goal of the ambassador program is to better support faculty, students and parents while strengthening our overall school community. Ambassadors are Joe Michell volunteers organized into teams of 2 or 3 that support grade-levels and the SDC (Special Day Classes) program. They work together to promote school events, classroom support and to strengthen the partnerships between Joe Michell families, faculty and community.
- Act as a shared resource for teachers to help with projects and school events
- Build grade-level communities through active communication with families
- Assist in school-wide projects and events, while encouraging others to do so as well
- Welcome families new to Joe Michell
- Assist in school-wide projects, fundraising and events
- Address different grade level needs
- Collaborate with room parents
- Act as your resource for questions
- Help to organize parent volunteers
How are we different from classroom parents?
Classroom parents usually focus on supporting one classroom. Ambassadors work at the grade or SDC program level to address grade-level or program needs; we also help in classrooms where there are no classroom parents. Ambassadors work collaboratively with classroom parents to avoid duplicating efforts.

Hi! I’m Yvonka Headley, Ambassador for first grade. I have a son in 3rd grade and a daughter in 1st; both are very actively involved in personal enrichment and athletics at Joe Michell as well as in the community, respectively. Several years ago, I chose to transfer my son into Joe Michell for kindergarten because I wanted him to learn and grow within a diverse, supportive, and globally minded environment. I look forward to volunteering my time at many events while supporting your child in navigating the IB mission at Joe Michell again this year.

My name is Heidi Ching-Cosman and I am an Assistant Ambassador for the Second Grade classes. I was previously an Assistant Ambassador to Mrs. Montano. My son, Grant, has been attending Joe Michell since TK. I try to volunteer as much as I can in the classes as my schedule allows it. Looking forward to meeting all your lil ones this year. Will give it my all to provide support and communication between teachers, parents, and the Joe Michell community.
Greetings! I’m Andrea Dalve-Endres, Assistant Ambassador for second grade. My son, Kadin Larson, was formerly in Mrs. Montano’s first grade class. I work more than full time as an obstetrician-gynecologist and have other leadership roles so can relate very well to those of you who may feel overwhelmed with the idea of volunteering. However, the more we work together as community, the more successful we will all be! I look forward to meeting all of you and continuing to make Joe Michell an excellent place for our children to learn in a supportive environment. Contact me with any questions or concerns!
Third Grade Ambassadors
Fourth Grade Ambassadors
Hello! My name is Jennifer Pangelinan. I am a mom of two boys, Eli in 4th grade and Ben in 8th grade. This is our second year at the school and my first year as an ambassador! It’s a wonderful school and my boys couldn’t be happier here. As a mom who works full time outside the home, I feel like I miss out volunteering in the classroom and school. By being an ambassador, my hope is that it will provide me a greater opportunity to be more involved and give back to our school community. I’m excited and I look forward to help making this a great year for our children!
Fifth Grade Ambassadors
Our middle school ambassadors work collaboratively as one team, with representatives from each grade level.
Hi! I’m Shellie Hoyt, mom to Ally (Alyssa) in Mrs. Parker’s class, and to first grader Aaron here at JMS. It’s my pleasure to serve as 5th grade lead ambassador. Our family has been part of the Joe Michell community nearly 2 years. I have been a classroom volunteer for many years, and have been a subsitute teacher for grades kinder through 12th. My passion is supporting teachers and students in any way I can to help create a warm, welcoming, safe, and inspiring learning environment. I am excited to collaborate with fellow parents to help make 5th grade an awesome year for our kids!
My name is Sheri Morris, and I am one of the 5th grade assistant ambassadors. My daughter, Jada, is in (teacher’s name)’s class, and my son, Miles, is in 7th grade. We came to Joe Michell last year and were the beneficiaries of its wonderful community. This year I get to pay it forward. I will do my best to facilitate communication between parents, teachers, and staff — all in support of our kids!
